Bible study notes
As we all know, the study of the bible is an essential part of our Christian journey. I personally find it also an inspiration for prayer, i.e. a passage will concentrate my mind and enable me to have a dialogue with God.
The more I study the bible the more joy and direction I get from it. However, I could not do this without bible notes. Through these I get fresh insights into well-known passages and directions to explore other sources of reflection, sometimes music sometimes the written word.
May I therefore recommend The Bible Reading Fellowships Notes. There are two different sets of notes:
New Daylight which is published three times a year each issue giving four months of daily bible readings and comment, with a regular team of contributors drawn from a range of church backgrounds. It is ideal for anyone wanting an accessible aid to spending time with God each day, deepening their faith and their knowledge of Scripture. Some contributors you will find more helpful than others but they will all make you explore your faith further. For many years I took this publication but now I use the second one:
Guidelines which is also published three times a year. This offers a more in-depth study, drawing on the insights of current scholarship. Its intension is to enable all its readers to interpret and apply the biblical text with confidence in to-day’s world, while helping to equip church leaders as they meet the challenges of mission and disciple-building.
The next notes come out in May. Daylight costs £4.50 and Guidelines £4.40. If you would like to order a copy speak to me or if you would like to see back issues I can give you one so you can get a taste of what they are like. I would thoroughly recommend them.

Final thought from Fr Leslie
Thanks Diana! There are a great many sources for Biblical study. Yo and I use “Bible Alive”. It is published monthly and presently offering a one month free trial for new subscribers. It costs £25 per year ordinarily. To order ring: 01782745600 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
